Community Bridges Wraps Up Its Second Year of the Healthy Bridges Program
From July 29 – August 23, 10 CB middle school girls participated in Healthy Bridges, a program designed to educate girls on how to have a healthy lifestyle, physically and mentally. Weekly topics included Mindfulness, Fitness, Nutrition and Goal-Setting.
Week One: Mindfulness
- Visit to the Meditation Museum
- Lesson plan on how to tackle stress
Week Two: Fitness
- Self-Defense class at Elite Bodies
- Modern Dance Class at Dance Exchange
- Personal Trainer Session and Tour of Washington Sports Club
- Swimming at the Martin Luther King Jr. Swim Center
Week Three: Nutrition
- Salad and Salsa Making with Crossroads Community Food Network
- Grocery Shopping at Aldi’s and Making Their Own Lunch
- Manna Food Center Bus Tour
- Volunteer Opportunity at A Wider Circle
Week Four: Goal-Setting
- Visit to the Hidden Ridge Flower Farm with an emphasis on how to sustain organic flower farming
- Overnight camping at a C&O Canal Lockhouse thanks to the C&O Canal Trust
