Our College Access and Success Program prepares CB girls to succeed in college and beyond.

When I first joined CB I didn’t know I needed so much help. Every Monday, I would join a zoom session with Ms. Bailey and Ms. De Angeli and they guided me on what steps I need to take that week so I’ll be able to submit a completed college application on time. Through their leadership, I’ve won so many scholarships, one being the Blair Alumni Association scholarship from my high school.”

With a strong emphasis on success during post-secondary education, the College Access and Success Program is a comprehensive college access, attainment and retention program that serves high school girls. The College Access and Success Program strives to increase our graduates’ level of preparation, application, acceptance, and enrollment in 2- and 4-year institutions after completing high school.

This year our High School and College Success Program will serve more than 100 girls that attend Montgomery County Public Schools (Albert Einstein, James Hubert Blake, John F. Kennedy, Montgomery Blair, Northwood, Paint Branch, and Springbrook High School).

CB girls 9-11 receive college and career awareness programming in preparation for the College Advising component starting the spring of their Junior year. As a rising senior in the program, each CB girl receives virtual and in person group summer programming, access to college visits and admissions sessions tailored for our population. Our College Access and Success Program staff provide support through all phases of the college application, financial aid and scholarship search process.

Community Bridges provides additional support to the families of the girls in our High School and College Access and Success Program offering workshops on college readiness and navigating the financial aid process. We have developed partnerships with local and regional College Access organizations and currently lead Potomac and Chesapeake Association of College Admissions Counseling (PCACAC) Special Interest Group for Community Based Organizations.  We are individual and organization members of National Association of College Admissions Counseling (NACAC) and National College Attainment Network (NCAN).

In an effort to provide support to high school graduates, CB has also instituted an Alumnae extension program with plans to fully expand our college access and success program services through college completion and beyond.

Interested in volunteering in our College Access and Success Program? We are always looking for professionals who want to lead a career awareness workshop, service as a mentor to one of our girls or volunteers to help our staff.
