The CB Girls Program encourages girls in 4th through 12th grades to explore their identity, increase their self-esteem, and build their character in a safe and nurturing space.

“It is a place to feel open and to communicate with others and to tell them how you feel. It is a great way to make new friends and to see how other people have the same goals as you.”

Alliss Arevalo, CB Class of 2020

Girls in our CB Girls program develop leadership skills and personal responsibility through a variety of experiential and in-classroom learning opportunities. Our integrated programming encourages our girls to lead holistically healthy lives: emotionally, socially, and physically.

Weekly lessons focus on topics such as healthy relationships, cultural awareness, and leadership and goal setting.

Lessons are reinforced with out-of-school trips and activities such as participation in our annual Career & Innovation Summit, attendance at youth empowerment conferences, opportunities for community advocacy, and more. In addition to the after school program, Community Bridges provides academic support through one-on-one tutoring and homework club.

Program curricula and activities are devised so that girls acquire diverse tools and strategies for overcoming adversity and advocating on behalf of themselves and their peers. In addition, field trips, college tours, and community service opportunities build girls’ leadership capacity and help them to become college and career ready.

We are currently serving girls at Highland ES, JoAnn Leleck at Broad Acres ES, Pine Crest ES, Rolling Terrace ES, Sargent Shriver ES, Eastern MS, Silver Spring International MS, Takoma Park MS, White Oak MS, Newport Mill MS, A. Mario Loiederman MS, Argyle MS, Parkland MS, James Hubert Blake HS, Montgomery Blair HS, Springbrook HS, Northwood HS, Albert Einstein HS and John F. Kennedy HS.
