Learn how CB staff has transitioned to delivering all programs virtually!

Due to COVID-19, Community Bridges has not had the opportunity to conduct our traditional after-school Community Bridges Girls Program in person but instead we have pivoted and are doing more work than ever to meet the basic needs of our Community Bridges girls and their families while continuing to provide the social emotional learning that is so vital. CB program managers reach out to CB Girls and Families to conduct virtual programming, send messages to girls and families and conduct one-on-one phone assessments. A popular feature that keeps girls engaged is Instagram Live and Zoom.

Our approach focuses on the whole girl versus pieces of the girl. For this reason, we are not only continuing all of our programs virtually but we’ve expanded to include case management to ensure we are the bridge to meeting the basic needs for not just our girls but their families as well. This includes resources for food, toiletries, mental health, renters assistance and tutoring or one-on-one support for distance learning.

Community Bridges is continuing to update families and share resources available in the county that include locations that serve free meals. In addition, we are managing each of our families needs including connections to food resources by referring our families to either Manna or Rainbow Community Development Center. Community Bridges has also been able to fill in the gaps with grocery and store gift cards. We are currently supporting 225 families with resources for food, renter’s assistance applications, mental health, toiletries and cloth masks. Community Bridges is the bridge or link for ensuring our families have the resources they need to meet their basic needs.
