“It is a place to feel open and to communicate with others and to tell them how you feel. It is a great way to make new friends and to see how other people have the same goals as you.”
Girls in our CB Girls program develop leadership skills and personal responsibility through a variety of experiential and in-classroom learning opportunities. Our integrated programming encourages our girls to lead holistically healthy lives: emotionally, socially, and physically.
Weekly lessons focus on topics such as healthy relationships, cultural awareness, and leadership and goal setting.
Lessons are reinforced with out-of-school trips and activities such as participation in our annual Career & Innovation Summit, attendance at youth empowerment conferences, opportunities for community advocacy, and more. In addition to the after school program, Community Bridges provides academic support through one-on-one tutoring and homework club.
Program curricula and activities are devised so that girls acquire diverse tools and strategies for overcoming adversity and advocating on behalf of themselves and their peers. In addition, field trips, college tours, and community service opportunities build girls’ leadership capacity and help them to become college and career ready.
